Description
Easy, sugar-free Salsa Chicken recipe. A clean, high protein recipe made with fresh salsa and simple ingredients – perfect for abstinent eating and recovery-friendly meal prep.

- 1 Tbsp. ground chili powder
- 1 tsp. ground cumin
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. onion powder
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken (breast or thighs); rinsed and patted dry
- 1 white onion, sliced or chopped
- 16 oz. salsa of choice (we like green salsa, but any salsa will work well)
- Cilantro, chopped onion, sliced jalapenos for serving, if desired
Instructions
- Combine all of the dry spices together.
- Sprinkle the spices evenly over the chicken pieces, rubbing each chicken piece to coat.
- Place the sliced onion in the bottom of a crockpot.
- Place the spiced chicken pieces on top of the onion.
- Pour the salsa over the chicken.
- Cook on LOW for 6 hours.
- When chicken is cooked through, shred with a fork. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
- This chicken goes very well with our Air Fryer Taco Shells.
- Can be made ahead and reheated for easy weeknight dinners.
