Description

This dressing is intentionally boring in the best way possible, and works in a pinch. It honors simplicity over stimulation, supports nourishment without triggering obsession, keeps your meals grounded and repeatable, and removes the “emergency decision spiral”.

Found yourself at a restaurant, or a friend’s house, with questionable dressing? Most places have olive oil or sour cream, and lemons. Enjoy that salad, and stay in your abstinence.

The goal is staying abstinent, eating on time, and protecting your peace – this dressing recipe fills the bill when your best made plans necessitate a pivot.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil OR 1 oz sour cream
  • 1-2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice, OR vinegar, OR juice from jarred jalapenos, pepperoncini, or pickles
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: powdered garlic, powdered onion, fresh herbs, or pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to your salad bowl.
  2. Toss salad to combine.
  3. Taste and adjust acidity or salt as needed.

Notes

  • Use this recipe when you need a dressing that is fast, safe, and satisfying without turning your meal into a crisis.
  • This is a simple, emergency recipe that is also good, even when you’re home.
  • DO try the sour cream version with jalapeno or pepperoncini juice – big flavor with simple ingredients!
