When You Need To Make A Quick Pivot
There’s a moment every person in food addiction recovery knows all too well.
You’ve prepped the salad. You’re already hungry. You reach for the dressing, and suddenly realize… it isn’t (gasp!) abstinent.
Could be your partner or teen ate the last of the dressing you had planned. Could be you’re at a potluck, or a friends house, or at a restaurant. Maybe that dressing has sugar. Maybe it contains flour, starches, or some mystery ingredients you’re just not sure about. Maybe it’s just not on your food plan anymore.
This is often where old patterns try to sneak in. And we say to ourselves, “it’s probably fine“, “I’ll just use a little“, or “I don’t have time to make anything else“.
Don’t panic. THIS is exactly the kind of moment why this quick abstinent dressing exists.
One of the most powerful recovery skills we build is the ability to pivot calmly.
Not perfectly. Not with resentment. Not by skipping meals. But by saying, “Okay. This is not abstinent. What’s the simplest next right thing?“
This dressing takes less than a minute, uses ingredients many non-abstinent kitchens already have on hand, and requires no blender.
